Likely empty boat capsizes, dozens respond

June 18, 2010 8:34:04 AM PDT
Emergency crews in the southwest suburbs responded to the report of a loose boat partially submerged in the Cal-Sag Channel Friday morning. The call came in around 6:20 a.m. near the Ridgeland Avenue Bridge in Palos Heights. An empty, capsized power boat was pulled toward shore. No bodies had been found as of 9 a.m.

Authorities spent more than an hour trying to determine whether someone was swept into the strong current of the water or if the boat simply got loose from its dock overnight.

No one was found in the cabin of the 21-to-24 foot long vessel.
