Fatal Bartlett crash shuts down street

A deadly crash shut down a major road in west suburban Bartlett Tuesday morning.It happened at Lake Street and Naperville Road near the Villa Olivia Country Club.

West Lake Street in Bartlett was closed for several hours while police investigated.

A 46-year-old man in a car died in the head-on collision with a pickup.

At about 8 a.m., a 1992 gold Ford Taurus was eastbound on U.S. 20/Lake Street between Naperville Road and Lambert Lane, when it crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a 2002 GMC Sonoma head-on, a release from Bartlett police said.

The 46-year-old man driving the Taurus was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates by the Bartlett Fire Protection District and later pronounced dead, police said. The 26-year-old man driving the Sonoma was also taken to St. Alexius with non-life-threatening injuries.
