As America was solving the Rubik's Cube and figuring out who shot J.R., Chicago was preparing for a Magnificent Mile feast called "Taste of Chicago."On a sun-kissed Fourth of July in 1980, the Taste of Chicago launched what would become a summer tradition. The city's premier event turns 30 this year and begins in its longtime home of Grant Park on Chicago's lakefront, June 25-July 4.

Offering more than 300 menu items, this year's event will feature an astounding 11 new food vendors: Abundance Bakery; Bobak Sausage Company; Carbon; Churro Factory; Cubby Bear; Doreen's Gourmet Pizz; Iyanze; Pegasus Restaurant and Taverna; Shokoland Pastry and Cafe; Summer Noodle and Rice; and Timothy O'Toole's Pub. Additionally, Taste offers some of the stars of culinary community at the Dominick's Cooking Corner including Mario Batali and Giada De Larentiis.

Food and beverage tickets will once again sell for $8 a strip of 12 tickets. Dominick's shoppers can take advantage of early sales, purchasing strips of tickets for only $6 while showing a Fresh Values card, June 17-24 at participating Dominick's locations.

In addition to three separate public preview events (Taste Restaurant Days, Preview at Prudential Plaza and a Daley Plaza public preview on June 8 and 9,) Taste of Chicago will have an app to go with your appetite.
