Rally for seniors, disabled stops traffic

June 29, 2010 (CHICAGO)

The rally stopped traffic around Daley Plaza. Organizers are fighting to save the Illinois' home services and community care programs. They help provide personal assistants to seniors and people with disabilities. Protestors say the proposed 2011 Illinois state budget cuts funds from those programs and that would force some people out of their homes and into institutions.

"I only have a certain amount to pay our rents or pay for food," said Sherri Lynn Denton, protestor.

Gov. Quinn's office did not return ABC7's call for a comment.
