Chicago police are questioning a person of interest Wednesday morning in connection with a shooting that wounded a 10-year-old boy.

Syed Chapman was playing near 77th and Green Tuesday night when he was caught in the crossfire.

Chapman was hit in the leg and taken to the hospital, where he was in good condition.

Witnesses say the gunman was on a moped and trying to shoot another man, but that he missed and hit Chapman instead.

"I thought it was a firecracker. I heard it say 'pow.' And then I seen a boy come on by, he had the gun, he [was] on the bike, he had the gun laying right here. Then I seen him come by the middle, he shot again," said Brenda Gaines, who called 911.

Police recovered the gun used in the shooting.
