ComEd files for rate increase in Illinois

July 1, 2010 (CHICAGO) The electric utility made the request Wednesday. It says it needs the increase to pay for modernization of its delivery systems and to recover the cost of investments it has made since the last time it made since the last filing in 2007.

The commission will decide on increases after an 11-month proceeding that includes comment from those involved. The new rates would begin in June 2011 if they are approved.

Under the rate increase the average residential bill of $86 a month would increase by about $6.
