Wounded Marine home from Afghanistan

July 3, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Lance Corporal Tony Robertson was greeted at Midway Airport Saturday morning by family, friends and members of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Robertson suffered shrapnel wounds in an IED attack on June 17. His family is glad he is home to continue his recovery process.

"His grandfather Archie's with the Wounded Warriors, and they wanted to give him a welcome home that he deserved," said Leslie Vavra, Marine's mother.

"Things could have been so much worse, and I'm just so happy he's home, and safe," said Pat Pfieffer, Marine's grandmother.

After the airport greetings, Corporal Robertson received a motorcycle escort to his home in Willow Springs.
