NewsViews: Gov. Pat Quinn

July 4, 2010 (CHICAGO)

The state is dealing with a $13 billion dollar deficit, the largest in its history. But the governor says he is doing his best to protect government services that help the economy, schools, health and public safety.

In this NewsViews, Quinn talks more about what the budget does and does not cut.

"General state aid to our schools that pays for the teachers and all that, we held that even. We did not make cuts in that. We did make cuts in grants that go to individual school districts."

Also joining us for this NewsViews is David Vaught, the director of the governor's office of management and budget.
