July 6, 2010 (CHICAGO) --A truck-load of unused food from the Taste of Chicago will be put to good use. Vendors donated the leftovers to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.Workers collected crates of corn-on-the-cob and other goods at a Southwest Side warehouse.
The food depository distributes donated and purchased food throughout Cook County.
The non-profit organization has a network of 650 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters.
Last year, the food depository distributed 58 million pounds of food.
