Carlos Salgado, 26, died late in June at Memorial Park.
An attorney for Salgado's family says he was attending a pool party and was invited there by several Blue Island officials.
The family says alcohol was served, there were no lifeguards, and the area was dimly lit. Salgado's family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Blue Island, the president of the park district and others.
Blue Island officials had no comment.
