Museums get share of almost $1.5M in grants

The Shedd Aquarium is just one of ten area institutions being awarded money by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The agency is a primary source of federal support for the nation's 123,000 libraries and 17,000 museums.

The Field Museum will get money to grow efforts to train parents to engage their children in science.

These other institutions are also getting money are the Chicago Academy of Sciences, the Chicago Horticultural Society, the Chicago Zoological Society, the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust, the Morton Arboretum, the University of Chicago-Oriental Institute Museum, the University of Illinois-Jane Addams-Hull House Museum and the Midway Village Museum in Rockford.
