Fire trucks and the Warriors' Watch riders escorted Lance Cpl. Raul Orozco, Jr. from his home to the Cicero Town Hall.
The ceremony Tuesday was a surprise.
Orozco enlisted in June 2008 and one month later, he volunteered to go to Afghanistan.
He was presented with an award from Cicero for his service.
"I just want to thank everybody for coming to support me and keep supporting the military," said Orozco. "Thanks to the town for giving me all these presents, especially the fire truck, that was fun... just thank you all - just keep supporting us, and I'd like to thank my family."
Orozco has received the global war on terrorism medal, the national defense medal, the NATO award and the Afghanistan campaign medal.
