Bond was denied for a man charged in a robbery and attempted sexual assault on a woman in the Hyde Park neighborhood. Police say Lenvert Debardelaben, 48, held the door for the victim before robbing her and trying to sexually assault her.

Officials said Debardelaben helped the victim get a baby stroller into an apartment building Friday afternoon near the University of Chicago campus. Once inside the vestibule, he robbed and tried to sexually assault her, police said.

A building resident heard what was happening and called for help. The baby was not hurt.

Police caught the suspect a couple blocks away trying to climb a fence.

Debardelaben, of the 7700 block of South Drexel Avenue, is charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
