A shortage of veterinarians has the city's of Department of Animal Care and Control looking for outside help to spay, neuter, and euthanize animals. A spokesman for the mayor's office says the department is in the process of hiring two new veterinarians. Until that happens, the "Big Fix" program of neutering and spaying has been suspended.

Pet owners are being asked to take their pets to several other agencies, including the Anti-Cruelty Society and the Animal Welfare League.
