A carjacking suspect was caught by police after striking several cars and crashing into another one near Erie and Halsted. The man then jumped out of the car and took off on foot, police said. He was taken into custody a short time later.

Police said the man carjacked a BMW near Foster and Harlem and jumped onto the Kennedy Expressway. He headed south, driving erratically against traffic. He hit several cars, police said, before he crashed and ditched the BMW.

He was caught near Erie and Halsted around noon Wednesday.
