The Department of Transportation plans to build an elevated pathway at the Chicago River and Lake Shore Drive near Navy Pier.
The $40 million project will be funded mostly by tax dollars. It would provide a dedicated path for bicyclists and pedestrians from the Chicago River to Ohio Street.
A CDOT spokesman explains construction will not begin for another few years.
