City council committee approves 3rd Wal-Mart

July 23, 2010 9:43:23 PM PDT
The Chicago City Council Finance Committee has voted to approve a third Wal-Mart in the city.

The company does not need approval from the aldermen to build the store, but Mayor Daley asked council members for their support on the plans.

The Wal-Mart would be located at 83rd and Stewart.

Meanwhile, the city's first Wal-Mart on the city's West Side held a job fair Friday.

That store is undergoing a remodeling right now in preparation for its new 24-hour operation scheduled to begin in September.

The full city council will vote on the plans for the third Wal-Mart sometime next week.
