Acupuncture has been reported to be helpful in chronic pain and headaches. But what about inducing labor?

A new study finds it's doubtful that it helps women induce labor who go past their due date.

Acupuncture has been promoted as an alternative. The belief is that it may work by stimulating the nervous system which in turn could cause the uterus to contract.

But these latest findings in the obstetrics journal BJOG adds to evidence that acupuncture may not be helpful after all.
