A new report is out on Great Lakes beaches impacted by pollution.

The Natural Resources Defense Council issued its 20th annual beach report. The report shows while things are getting better in this region Great lakes beaches exceed health standards at nearly twice the rate of coastal beaches. In Chicago results were mixed with Oak Street beach exceeding pollution standards only 4 percent of the time. But 63rd Street beach was shown to exceed 66 percent of the time.

The city of Chicago was hailed for leadership in communicating to the public when there are beach problems and embracing creative green technologies to help limit the problem.
