Chicagoans rally for immigration reform in DC

July 28, 2010 (WASHINGTON DC)

The protesters are asking the president to fix a system that they says is broken and victimizes families. Chicago congressman Luis Gutierrez was there and says he does understands why Arizona passed the law in the first place.

"I disagreed about how they responded to the crisis, the lack of progress on immigration reform lack of action by the federal government, but the truth is there was a lack of action by the federal government," said U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, (D) Chicago.

Gutierrez says after the judge's ruling Wednesday it's time for the federal government to act on comprehensive immigration reform.
