Chicago Teachers Union suing CPS

August 3, 2010 (CHICAGO)

The lawsuit claims the Board of Education is dismissing some of the city's most qualified teachers in a manner that violates their constitutional right to due process.

The CPS issued a statement Tuesday denying that it has fired teachers "without legal grounds" as the union claims.

CPS says the teachers' lawsuit ignores the state's budget crisis.

Chicago's Public Schools are facing a $370 million deficit.
