A Chicago police officer was rushed to the hospital after the hit-and-run early Wednesday at 79th and South Chicago on the South Side.
Police say around 1 a.m., an officer was trying to stop the vehicle that he believed to be stolen, which, instead of stopping, hit the officer. A chase ensued and the suspects finally abandoned the vehicle several miles away.
A search was conducted in the Riverdale area after the silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo was abandoned by the suspects.
The injured officer was listed in stable condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
