Chicagoans celebrate Pakistan's independence

August 8, 2010 (CHICAGO) It was a celebration of Pakistani culture, but the flooding in Pakistan was weighing on many people's minds.

"It's a shame they've been put in this position by circumstance. We need help," Zaker Sabri told ABC7 Chicago.

"People are suffering. They are homeless, there are no shelters, no food, no medicines," said M. Yaqub.

The parade route was on Devon Avenue between Ridge and Western avenues.

Pakistan gained its independence from Great Britain in 1947.
