An overnight fire claimed the life of an 84-year-old Chicago man.

Firefighters say there were no working smoke detectors in the N. Parkside Ave. home where Jerry Jones was sleeping.

His body was found in a second floor bedroom.

The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m.

No one else was in the building at the time.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while putting out the flames. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
