August 19, 2010 (CHICAGO) --Discussion of the proposed Islamic center has stirred emotions for people on both sides of the issue. Daley avoided the direct debate but talked about the lack of a 911 memorial. "I think it's the greatest frustration that we've seen. There's no memorial built. Every time the families pass there, they see this deep hole and they think, 'where's America?' There's no memorial set yet. That is the great frustration that people have," said Daley. Last week, President Obama spoke out about the importance of religious freedom in this country. But he would not say if he was for or against building the Islamic center and mosque.
