7,500 pot plants seized in Naperville, Bolingbrook

August 26, 2010 (NAPERVILLE, Ill.) Naperville police were responding to a report of suspicious activity Saturday when they say they found a large-scale, highly sophisticated marijuana operation. Investigators say they found more than 1,500 plants on Whitehall Way.

Additional information led them to Bolingbrook Monday where they say they found 6,000 more plants.

Two people from Chicago and one from Bolingbrook face felony drug possession and production charges.

Chang Hai Chen, 40, of 2227 Wentworth Ave. in Chicago was charged with possession of cannabis; Mingdi Lu, 30, of 3327 S. Bell Rd. in Bolingbrook was charged with felony production and possession of cannabis;and Jinzu Shi, 42, of 2706 S. Wallace St. in Chicago was charged with felony production of cannabis, a police press release said.
