FEMA flood assistance info separate from SNAP

All this week, low-income residents have been lining up for the government's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, but those who do not qualify for SNAP can still apply for traditional flood aid.

As of Tuesday, more than 40,000 people have applied for FEMA assistance, and more than $70 million has been approved for the seven counties affected.

? Total registrations: 40,422

? Individual Assistance approved: $70 million

? Housing inspections completed: 29,113

? SBA: 30,109 applications distributed

? Disaster Recovery Centers operating in Freeport, Cicero, Westchester, Austin ( 9/1)

? Seven counties designated for IA : Carroll, Cook, DuPage, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago

? Deadline for FEMA registration and SBA applications: Oct. 18
