Students receive free supplies, books for school

Hundreds of Chicago public school students are more ready for classes to start Tuesday after a peace rally and book giveaway on the South Side Monday.There were long lines outside and a big crowd inside the House of Hope where speakers reminded students of the importance of their education.

Afterwards, kids were given book bags, school supplies, and books for the first day of school.

The event was organized by Cook County Board Pres. Todd Stroger.
