Nearly a dozen horses are getting a fresh start after being rescued from farm in south suburban Crete.

The horses have been turned over to HARPS horse rescue farm. There are 11 of them, including three mothers, two 2-month-olds and one 9-month-old.

The rescue farm says a rodeo cowboy owned the horses but gave them away when he lost his job.

HARPS rescue farm plans to put the horses up for adoption.
