The cast from the theatre's "Sensational Soulful 60s" provided the entertainment at Friday afternoon's official ground breaking ceremony.
Chicago native Jackie Taylor founded the Black Ensemble Theatre back in 1976. Taylor was there, along with a host of elected officials to turn shovels on the project.
The Black Ensemble Theatre Cultural Center will be located in the Uptown community and is expected to open in fall of 2011.
