Cook County chief judge secures re-election

September 13, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Evans said Monday night that he is looking forward to another three-year term as chief judge.

The position oversees one of the largest court systems in the country and 420 judges.

Evans was re-elected to the position by secret ballot among a panel of his peers. It was the first time Evans faced a challenger.

Judge William Maddux mounted an unsuccessful challenge citing what he called a need for change in management style.
