Hay fever surgery growing in popularity

Radiofrequency surgery works by heating up the tissue underneath the mucous membrane. A report in the journal Archives of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery says the procedure is growing in popularity. Researchers say it's easily tolerated and the effects lasted for some people up to five years later.

Hay fever causes stuffy and runny nose, among other symptoms, because the tissues inside the nose swells.

Drugs such as antihistamines and steroid nasal sprays can help alleviate symptoms but they don't work for everyone.
