"If you are not at home and out somewhere, come down to the beach. If you are at home, definitely come to the beach," said James Oberuc.
"The weather is great. I come here to play volleyball every Sunday, and it's been a good summer," said Rich Szafran.
Tuesday was typical of Chicago's recent weather, which has seen seven months in an in a row of exceptional temperatures. There hasn't been oppressive heat and the hottest temperature reached only 94-degrees.
While Lake Michigan waters have cooled back into the upper 60's, they're warm enough for a swim.
"We decided to go to enjoy the last part of the summer and we are looking forward to this winter because we spent the last two years in California and we're ready for snow," said Anne Jones.
Last year the warm weather held out through most of fall, and the first snow accumulated on December 2. The earliest snowfall was recorded on September 25 in 1989.
