Axelrod speaks on possible Emanuel mayor run

September 26, 2010 (WASHINGTON) David Axelrod talked about it Sunday morning on ABC's This Week with Christianne Amanpour.

"So, it stands to reason that he would have to leave earlier if he decides to do it, and that's something he's still working through," Axelrod said.

"If you had to bet, will he do it? And will he leave before the midterms?"

"I never bet on national television," said Axelrod.

"What do you think will happen?" said Amanpour.

"I think that he loves the city of Chicago. He's always believed that that was the greatest job there is, and so I think he's drawn to it, but he still has family considerations to think about," Axelrod.

One person, for certain, will not be running for mayor. Former city inspector general David Hoffman says he will not seek Mayor Daley's job. Hoffman lost a close primary race for Senate to Alexi Giannoulias.
