Man charged after ambulance stolen from West Side

October 9, 2010 (CHICAGO) It happened Saturday morning in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. Ambulance 23 was stopped near Wilcox and Kildare treating a person for a diabetic episode. The man then jumped in and drove off.

Paramedics radioed in the theft. A nearby fire truck heard the call and cut the ambulance off at Madison and Kostner.

The driver is identified as 27-year-old Jimmy McCoy. He was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of stolen motor vehicle.
