Residents rescued from fire on city's North Side

October 14, 2010 (CHICAGO)

The Chicago Fire Department was called to the building in the 1300-block of North Hudson around 4:30 p.m. Five ambulances were dispatched to the residential building.

At least two people ran to the roof to get away from the smoke. One resident had to be rescued by a Chicago fire fighter on a ladder.

It's believed the smoky fire began in a mattress in the five-story building. It was struck out late Thursday afternoon.
