Area Muslim groups working to get out the vote

October 21, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Several organizations involved in the efforts say they are channeling frustration with racial profiling and other obstacles into something positive: voting.

"We can best serve our country by electing candidates who can bring positive change, protect American freedom, and restore trust and integrity to public offices," said Oussama Jammal of the Mosque Foundation.

After this event in Bridgeview, early voters were bussed to a polling place.

There are an estimated 400,000 Muslims in the Chicago area.
