The court issued a stay for St. Johannes Cemetery filed by opponents of the expansion.
The city's aviation department didn't have a date Wednesday night on how long the stay will last.
Earlier this year, the city was granted possession of the cemetery which sits off O'Hare runway 10-left 28-right.
An estimated 1,200 graves had been ordered moved to make way for the new runway.
