The first Lazoo books were published in Japan, written and illustrated by the design firm known as Lazoo. More than simple coloring books, the Lazoo books were designed to help children explore their creativity and imagination. "The world soon fell in love with Lazoo's 'color outside the lines' spirit," says Michael Kule, father of five and children's retail veteran. Millions of copies of Lazoo books have been sold across three continents.
In 2009, best-selling children's authors and publishers David Gomberg and Justin Heimberg brought the books to the Unites States for the first time with English editions. The books Holes and Squiggles were published by the duo's Seven Footer Press, followed by Imagine That, Let's Color, Stickers, and Incredible Stickers.
"Each of the Lazoo books allows children to 'think out of the box' by providing them unique ways to look at shapes, objects and motor skills," says Kule, who joined the authors to expand the Lazoo philosophy to clothing, plush toys and accessories.
Kule says Lazoo fashion for boys and girls from 6-months to 4-years-old feature vibrant colors, unique fabric combinations and appliqué, and simple silhouettes. They are durable for every day play, he adds.
