Bidders take a pass on Sammy Sosa's corked bat

November 2, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Former Cubs pitcher Mike Remlinger owns the controversial piece of lumber.

Until last month, nobody knew what happened to the barrel.

Umpires ejected Sosa and confiscated the handle back on June 3, 2003. But in the confusion that followed, the barrel disappeared. It turns out Remlinger grabbed it. He reportedly wanted $15,000 for it. The highest bid was for $14,407.

The next step is to offer the bat to that highest bidder or try to sell it privately.
