A Chicago firefighter who died in the line of duty was honored by the city Wednesday.

"The resolution speaks on behalf of the entire city of Chicago," said Mayor Richard M. Daley. "He will never be forgotten in the history of the city of Chicago."

The family of 31-year old Christopher Wheatley accepted a copy of the resolution from Daley at Wednesday's city council meeting.

Wheatley died in august when he fell from a ladder as he tried to put out a fire at a West Loop restaurant.
