Ind. man dies saving orphan in Indonesia

November 9, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Thirty-year-old Ben Uskert was killed while saving an orphan in Indonesia. He worked in Sumatra as a pilot for Mission Aviation Fellowship.

The Valparaiso native lived in Indonesia with his wife and 3-year-old son.

His wife took a picture of Uskert just before he went surfing Sunday with children from a local orphanage. Two teenagers started to struggle. Uskert saved one teenager, but he drowned and the other teenager is missing.

Many of Uskert's friends gathered Tuesday night at Southlake Worship center in Hobart to share their memories.
