The governor was joined by representatives from the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, the Illinois National Guard and the USO of Illinois.
Quinn said that there are 1 million veterans in the state.
"It is so important that we honor those who are serving our country, defending our democracy and when they come home as veterans and re-enter civilian life we had to make sure we do everything possible to help our service members and veterans," said Quinn.
The governor encouraged veterans to take advantage of programs that help them find jobs. That includes in the construction field, "Helmets to Hardhats," and in education, "Troops to Teachers."
