In October, the center announced it could close by the end of 2010 without the money. The large donation is contigent upon raising matching funds by the end of November.
So far, the center has raised over 30-percent of its goal.
Howard Brown's new chief executive said financial mismanagement by past leadership put the center at risk of closing. The center is one of the largest in the country serving the gay and lesbian community.
