Omega-3's may fight off gum disease

A new study found people who consume a good amount of omega-3 fatty acids, typically in oily fish, may have a lower risk of developing gum disease.

Although a direct link is still not confirmed, some earlier research has pointed to health benefits associated with fish oil.

Scientists say omega-3 fatty acids have a wide number of potentially beneficial effects on many organs and the gums may be a new one that hasn't been appreciated before.
