A gas leak forced the evacuation of some buildings in Chicago's West Rogers Park on Thursday morning.

Construction crews hit an underground gas main in the 2000-block of West Morse Ave. about 10 a.m.

Residents in several nearby buildings were told to leave as a precaution until gas workers capped the leak.

That took about an hour and all residents were allowed back home.
