Some Metra commuters will soon be able to ride in peace on the new 'quiet cars.'

Starting in January, two cars on each Rock Island Line train will be designated 'cell phone-free.'

Riders will also be asked to speak quietly while talking with their fellow passengers.

Metra will test the quiet cars for three months, after which time they could be expanded to other lines.
