Bartlett woman attacked in home invasion

November 16, 2010 (BARTLETT, Ill.)

It happened around 10 a.m. Tuesday on Chelmsford Court in Bartlett. The 82-year-old victim is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Bartlett police and fire responded to the home after the victim came face to face with a young man who entered her home through an open garage door.

Police say the suspect fondled himself and grabbed the woman, knocking her down. He then left through the front door.

Police describe the suspect as a white man, approximately 20 years old with short blond hair. They say he has a skinny build and is 5'08" to 5'10". The suspect walks with a slight limp and was wearing blue jeans, grey hooded jacket, green baseball hat and sunglasses. Authorities say he drove off in a beige or gold Jeep. He is still on the loose.

The victim's neighbors say she has dealt with another incident a few years ago.

"Four or five years ago she had somebody that tried to get in, had a ladder and went in. I don't think they ever did. They got scared off and nothing happened to her," said Rosemary Williams, neighbor.

Prairieview Elementary School was put on lockdown briefly while police and fire searched the area for the suspect.

Anyone with information should call Bartlett police.
