Del Valle went to Malcolm X College to offer what he calls a new pathways initiative. The former senate education committee chairman would expand the dual credit and dual enrollment program between Chicago's Public Schools and City Colleges.
"The end result will be more students from our Chicago Public Schools going on to college, more students getting their associate's degree, and more students getting their bachelor's degree, and more students being available to fill the needs of this ever-changing workforce," said Del Valle.
Del Valle said the high schools and city colleges would partner with Chicago State University, Northeastern Illinois University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
