Volvo issues recall for seat problem

December 3, 2010 3:53:16 PM PST
Volvo says thousands of its vehicles may have a problem with the front passenger seat.

A recall has been issued because the detection system that tells the power seat when it can no longer move forward can malfunction. That can cause the seat to move too far forward causing injury during a crash.

The recalled models include:

Vehicle Make / Model: -- Model Year(s):
VOLVO / S40 -- 2009-2011
VOLVO / S60 -- 2009 2011
VOLVO / V50 -- 2009-2011
VOLVO / XC60 -- 2010-2011

Owners can call Volvo at (800) 458-1552 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to safecar.gov .
